UNUSUAL: Donna has no notable features
OTHER FORM: None
APPEARANCE: Donna is a small girl, short for her height. She has a slight frame, with no true muscle mass to her at all. She is not a weak girl, but the little exercise she does don’t show. She had pitch black hair that she usually keeps up and out of her face save for a few pieces. She wouldn’t call them bangs per say but they aren’t long enough to join the rest of her hair in a pony tail. Her eyes are such a deep blue that they are almost black. The little make up she wears is always blue in tone to try and bring out the color in her eyes. She doesn’t feel like it ever works, but she makes the attempt.
Her complexion is very pale. She rarely goes outside of her own accord unless there is a good reason for it. She burns easily if she stays in the sun for too long. The pale skin is offset by her choice in clothing. Donna typically wears only black. She calls it assassin chic. She has been called goth plenty of times though she doesn’t think that she is. When she does where color, it seems out of place. On the rare occasions that she wears white, she is almost ethereal. The one thing that is always constant is a simple silver bracelet with a crescent moon charm.

OVERALL: Donna is a simple girl. She enjoys simple things in life and doesn’t care for politics or anything that will complicate things too much. She doesn’t mind going out for fun, but can easily entertain herself curled up in a chair with a book. Books have been her best friends thus far and wouldn’t forsake them for much. They have gotten her through some very hard times that have left her cynical and untrusting of others for years.
She doesn’t consider herself “goth” in any sense. Yes, she does see things with a darker view than she thinks most do. She thinks ahead and doesn’t often act without planning ahead. She has to be in a real fix for her to do something rash. She doesn’t find this to be a common occurrence but she’s sure it will happen from time to time throughout her life.
Donna does have a lighter side, its just buried. She has a surprising sense of humor that most would be shocked to find. When she gives of herself, you know that she truly likes you. When she considers someone a friend, they must to a great deal of hurt to her for her to taken them off her short list of trusted people. She expects most people to be untrustworthy worms first and will expect loyalty from those that manage to get passed her walls. For those few individuals, she will go to great lengths for them. FATHER: Micah, 65
SIBLINGS: None
OTHER PEOPLE: Nathanial, uncle
HISTORY: Donna was born of a witch and a wizard, Rachel and Micah. They were loving parents, living realistically. Nothing was absolutely perfect, but it was perfect in Donna‘s eyes. She knew that her parents loved each other even when they fought over small things. For the first ten years of her life, there was little that could make her unhappy. She was going to a nice school and had a few friends that she held very close. She also had her mother‘s brother visiting often. She found him to be the most fun adult there was. Nathanial, her uncle, would take her on all sorts of day trips on weekends. He was also her babysitter when her parents had to work late or wanted a night to themselves.
At the age of eight, Donna felt her first loss. One of her friends, a girl of the same age, moved away suddenly. There was little chance to say a proper goodbye. It was a shock to her young system to lose someone like that. She was devastated for weeks while she cried for her best friend. It took months for her to full move past the fact that her friend wasn‘t coming back.
There were a few more years of peace in her life following that incident. During that time, her mother enrolled her into a few dance classes, thinking it a good way to get her active. It was taxing, but for the most part Donna enjoyed the activity. She found that, due to her small frame, she was almost made for dancing. It wasn‘t something that she wanted to do with her life, but she didn‘t mind doing it recreationally. It also seemed to make her mother so happy to see her moving gracefully across the floor.
At age eleven, walking home from dance class one evening, tragedy struck her once more. It was late evening and it seemed like a quiet night. Talking easily with her mother, Donna and Rachel chose to take the long way home. It was a nice change and it made for a lovely walk. The scenery was serene. That one night, however, there was nothing serene about what happened.
A man stepped out. Donna never found out if he attacked them for personal reasons, or if it was simply a random attack and they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. She always thought her mother was a strong witch. This was a night that she found out that she wasn‘t invulnerable. She prefers to think that the man simply was lucky. He was a mere human that should never have been able to take down a witch. The man had a gun and with nothing more than a squeeze of the trigger, her mother was dead. She stood, frozen with shock, blood splattered, and so unsure what happened.
She may have seen it with her own eyes, but she still couldn‘t comprehend what happened that evening. The police found her in bad shape while she sat beside her mother‘s body, tearing falling silently down her cheeks. Her father was soon there, pulling her away and trying not to break down himself. Weeks later, they both finally began to return to something like themselves. Donna found that she was more resilient than her father, able to function normally though she was hiding her sorrow. She kept up with her dance classes and ended up having to care for her father more than she should have.
Two months later, Nathanial insisted that Micah get help, move in with someone more capable of caring for him than his daughter. She lived with her uncle for close to a year, keeping a somewhat normal routine. The classes were a constant reminder of her mother and she was unwilling to give them up. But it wasn’t enough. Her mother had been able to do magic and it wasn‘t enough to save her. Donna was able to open up and tell her uncle her fears, concerns. He understood and began sending her to martial arts classes for self protection. It was a good deal of help to her mentally.
With so much to do, Donna became more herself, the self defense classes giving her some confidence back. She began opening up to people again, trying to make friends again. The few that she had before her mother‘s death were now even fewer. She now only had two people that she could count on. The others wanted little to do with her, thinking her sullied to a point. Death was not something anyone should see and it damaged her according to them. She didn‘t understand their logic and was very hurt by their betrayal.
The young witch contented herself with the two people she still had. They encouraged her to start dating like they did as they got older. Reluctantly, at first, she allowed male attention with shy smiles. After a few months of toying with the idea of having a boyfriend, she finally met a boy. His name was Johnny and they did well together for eight months. They had plenty of fun and it seemed like they were willing to make it a long term relationship, at least while they were in school. One night while they were alone, Donna allowed a part of her that she had been hiding show. She had been learning magic with her father and uncle and thought she had enough control.
Her magic went a little haywire, almost hurting them when she chose to show him what she really was. She wasn‘t expecting to be shunned for being a little different. Johnny immediately dumped her, unwilling to be with someone so dangerous. He said that she was defective for being able to do magic and left. Her last two friends also deserted her, being human and afraid of what she was.
The catastrophe of her first relationship ended when she was fifteen, leaving her to suffer through a year with the same kids that once thought her one of them. It was inexplicably difficult to go through school knowing that she was thought of as diseased. Try as Micah might, her father wasn’t helpful. Nathanial finally offered the option of Akashibai Academy, putting her with others that were just as different as she was. [/ul]
WITH FACES PRESSED AGAINST THE
wall lets show the world what we are about
wall lets show the world what we are about
RP SAMPLE:
Donna stared out of her window, watching the rain run down the pane. It was a dreary day and she had little reason to do anything but stare. This time last year, it had been the absolute worst day of her life. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to block out the pain as she remembered the vivid events of that day. It had utterly destroyed her, making her think that she was less, that there was something wrong with her.[/ul]
The whole reason why she wasn’t home right now was because she showed off, thinking that a little magic would be cool to see. She didn’t realize that humans would royally freak out. It was an innate ability, not a disease. They thought that there was something seriously wrong with her for being able to conjure things and refused to get within a few feet of her. It was like she had the Black Plague and should be burned.
This was not the olden days when people could just be tied to a stake and turned to ashes.
They didn’t have to tie her and use real fire. She burned inside with so many things. She was angry, she was depressed. She felt forsaken and unloved. She hated so many for different reasons. She hated her ex-boyfriend for dumping her for something she couldn’t control. She hated her friends for believing that she was this foul thing. She hated her father for not being stronger and able to help her through this. She had been leaning on her uncle for so long.
Donna hated her mother, the one person she thought so strong and invincible, for leaving her. That was the one person she truly wanted right now, to comfort and understand her; that woman would never be there. The young witch wanted to understand why her friends had turned their backs on her and how she could overcome it. Without her mother’s guidance, she didn’t think she would ever get better.
She also wanted to feel better about that nickname her former peers had given her -- Belladonna. She hadn’t understood at first, trying to think it through. Finally, she asked Uncle Nathanial what he thought of it. He broke the bad news about this new name first. Belladonna, though it could be medicinal, was also used as a poison. They called her that because they thought she was poisonous.
The only man she could count on turned it around, trying to make her feel better. Bella donna was also Italian for beautiful lady. He took to calling her Bella, trying to impress upon her that she was beautiful, that there was nothing wrong with her. Donna couldn’t believe it though. She didn’t feel beautiful and couldn’t break through the pain those she had trusted were putting her through.
The rain was fitting. It was right that the sky chose to cry today. It meant she didn’t have to.
