[ ZAHIR ] take a breather

Daniil was in another of his moods. He wasn't feeling particularly talkative, much like the first day back at the academy. Of course, it hadn't mattered that day because he'd ended up talking to someone. This would probably end up the same. Actually, he felt quite certain that he'd end up chatting with someone again today.

But maybe he wouldn't be bothered by any of the B-, A-, or S-Rank students. He wasn't one to fight, even when they bullied him. What good would it do anyway? He was just Shape Shifter. He couldn't do much to protect himself from the people in the higher classes.

Wouldn't it be safer if he stayed at home or something?

Except that he'd need to go to school. And the humans were just as bad as the bullies here were, really. The only difference was that he could probably beat some of the humans, though not all of them. Some of them were huge! If humans didn't seem to just know he wasn't human, he'd have gone to a normal human school in a heartbeat.

But that was out of the question, what with them seeming to have a sixth sense about those things. He'd met a few humans who hadn't cared that he was different, but most didn't like it. He was picked on and bullied and teased.

He couldn't really say this place was much different though.

Finding a nice spot at an empty table in the corner, Daniil pulled a small stack of manga from his bag. It wouldn't take him long to read them, but it was something to pass the time. Besides, he hadn't read them yet. They were the first issues of a few manga he'd been meaning to read. Now he finally had the time. Before the homework started piling in.

Zahir wasn't having such a great day. He didn't expect for this to happen so quick and really didn't want to think about the horrors of that. He needed to find a quiet place to go. He was so tired this morning that he walked into a door being opened by accident. And pain is never fun to feel right in the morning.

His head throbbed and wanted to head home, but it was only his second day and going home over a headache was pretty weak.

Maybe he could go to the library for a bit until his head stopped hurting. He really shouldn't had stayed up reading. But it was a new volume of his favorite manga and he couldn't pass up on that. Normally he'd finish one pretty quick but since it was near midnight when he started reading it, he was falling asleep and kept jumping himself awake. So it took him til thirty minutes til one in the morning to finally finish it and get some sleep.

He arrived in the library and it was pretty empty. There was only one person at an empty table in a corner and the librarian. He pondered on sitting by the student as his shyness started to kick in. But he knew that if he didn't at least talk to people that he would never make friends here. He sat down at the table just as his head started to hurt a bit. Man this headache was a killer. But he tried to ignore it as best as he could. He tried to think of something to say but nothing came out. What would he say? He had to keep his voice pretty low or he'd get in trouble. Then he noticed one of the manga was the first chapter of Bleach. He actually had something to talk to him about...maybe. He could just started reading or could be going through it again like he does with certain manga.

He shook his head and decided to finally get over his shyness and speak to him. "So you like Bleach as well? I love that manga, how far have you gotten? Are you reading through again or are you just starting it? The way he spoke ran through his head and sounded like words he jumbled up together and made it sentences. He hoped that he didn't make himself look foolish.

Maybe he should count himself lucky that he wasn't visited by some S-Class or A-Class loser that only knew how to pick on people weaker than themselves. Wasn't there a saying that bullies only pick on people because they're jealous? Because of their own shortcomings. But he didn't quite get it.

What did they have to be jealous of? They were stronger, had cooler abilities. So did they want to be more like humans or something then? Shape shifters like him were pretty darn close to being human, so maybe that's why he was often targeted?

It was a long shot, but it was something to keep his mind occupied. Or at least the part of his mind that he wasn't using to read his manga or, now that he had someone to talk to, to make conversation.

"It'll be my second time reading through it. I caught up with Kubo a decided to just re-read it all. Figured maybe there'd be plenty of new chapters to read once I caught back up."

Daniil head the first volume of 'Bleach' up as he spoke, as if to accentuate his point. He'd already finished it and was now reading 'Death Note'. Like 'Bleach', he'd also read 'Death Note' before.

Unlike 'Bleach', however, 'Death Note' wasn't an ongoing Manga anymore. Still, it was a good read.

And the red-head was certainly glad that he'd met someone with similar likes. If the guy liked 'Bleach', he probably liked a lot of the same Manga and Anime that Daniil liked. And that was pretty cool. His unfriendly mood was slipping away from him and he found a small smile forming on his face.

"Do you like 'Death Note' at all? I liked the live action movies more than the Anime, personally. And the Manga's good."

Zahir was more relaxed now that he knew that student wasn't too bad. He liked Bleach like he did and that was good. And he's already caught up so far in what Kubo has done so far. He's read through this Bleach series quite a few times since he had nothing to really do as he was waiting for new volumes to come out.

He was really relieved about the fact that he didn't seem to be one of the A or S class students, who tend to annoy the lower class students because they don't have cool abilities like they do. It really irritated him that they think that they're stronger that they can push anyone around. It proves nothing except that they're complete jerks.

"I really liked the Bleach series. The intensity that it used to give isn't so great lately but it's still a great manga. Maybe these two would become friends at some point, they seemed to get along pretty well so who knows? He could tell that the student was relaxing a bit, probably has the same issues as all lower class students have.

He noticed his hand landing on top of another manga that looked familiar. And eventually his mind clicked and remembered that he had read that as well. "Do you like 'Death Note' at all? I liked the live action movies more than the Anime, personally. And the Manga's good." There were live action movies to Death Note? He's never heard of them before but they seemed interesting. "I've read Death Note as well and I have to say that is a great anime. I think that's the only anime that has the villain as the main character. He stopped for a moment and then spoke again. "When did they make a live action movie of it? I haven't seen them before, but I would like to watch them.

they were getting along so far, which was good. hopefully it would last. maybe he had a friend in this guy... what was his name. oh, they hadn't exchanged names yet. no matter, that was easy enough to fix. especially since they were already chatting. made things a lot easier, as far as daniil was concerned. he never was the best at breaking the ice, so to speak.

"yeah, maybe it'll pick back up soon. i mean, i'm sure it will, but the sooner the better, you know?"

'bleach' was always best when it was packed with action and intensity. slow moments were okay sometimes, of course, but that wasn't really the type of manga 'bleach' was. it was all about action and fighting. it wasn't like some of the other manga that were laced with romance and stuff every chapter.

"yeah, not many manga out their with the lead character actually the bad guy. it was a pretty good swap up, even though my favorite character was L from the start." daniil paused, looking at the cover of volume one of the 'Death Note' manga. it was one of his favorites. as were the live-action movies. the anime didn't quite make his top ten list but that was no big surprise. not with how many anime were out there. "they haven't been out long. or the third one hasn't anyway. i have all three on dvd and blue-ray, maybe i'll let you borrow them sometime or something."

he wasn't usually one to hand out his movies, but this guy seemed trustworthy enough. at the very least, it wouldn't be hard to hunt him down if the videos came back scratched or didn't come back at all. there'd sure be hell to pay if something like that happened... but he was sure it wouldn't come to that.

"i'm daniil zentin ivashkov, by the way. if you don't mind my asking, what are you exactly?"

Zahir started to feel even more relaxed around this person. He's been keeping himself on guard partly. But his guard was down because he felt that this student was trustworthy enough. What was his name? Oh right...they haven't given them out yet, he probably should have given it out before trying to remember one's name that he hasn't even asked for. It defeats the point of thinking such a thought.

He was really glad that their tastes in manga/anime was similar, he would hate that they didn't. It didn't mean that they couldn't be friends, it just mean that they had something that wasn't in common. And he really didn't want that.

He began to space out wondering about a few things, like would the two of them become good friends? If they did, would it last the rest of their academy years? Man he thought too much on the negative side, of course there is a possibility of them being friends won't happen but it's a greater chance that it will!

Just as his eyes started to close from his loss of sleep lately, he was woken up by the student's voice and went into his half-wolf form by accident. He noticed what happened immediately and felt panicking, but he calmed down and reverted back to human form. "Sorry about that, I tend to do that when I'm startled. Nice to meet you Daniil, my name is Zahir Kiel Ketto.

he was pretty sure he knew what this guy was now. he could be wrong, of course, there was always that chance. but the similarities between the two of them were just so similar. when he got really scared or startled, his ears and tail would just kinda pop out too. like he was having trouble keeping form.

even though his human form was his main form.

still though. a partial form seemed to just happen sometimes. at least for the two of them, it seemed. he could only guess that they were the same thing, the same species. the same monster, as certain humans would say. the same brand of losers, in some of the a- and s-Class students opinions.

"nice to meet you zahir. you're a shape shifter, yeah?"

not only did they have the same taste in manga and anime, but they were the same species too. that was pretty awesome. what were the chances of that, really? just running into someone that you shared that much in common with. daniil had met other shape shifters before, but none that liked the same things as him. this was pretty cool.

"so uh... do you have a favorite form? i like turning into a wolf, personally."

Was Daniil a shapeshifter like he was? If so then the list of similarities are still being added on. He was glad that he wasn't going to be forced as a loner like he did in the human schools. Those years were the worst. He was alone and no one ever talked to him. Even the teachers at the school didn't like him too much. Once there was a teacher who tried to fail him because he missed one little assignment. One thing was going to fail him in that class. How messed up is that?

He was glad that his parents finally gout of that place and brought him here....or that's what he felt at first until he arrived. Now he's wishing that he could had gone back to the loner. That was until he met Daniil. He hasn't really made many friends in his past years due to people have that strange sense in telling whether he's human or not. That was really the only thing he hated about humans was their hatred for anyone different.

"I do prefer my wolf form the most, it seems more comfortable in my opinion if you know what i mean.

daniil busied himself with stacking the manga he'd been reading. all of them, done or not (he'd read them all, whether it was months ago or before he'd started re-reading stuff), in a single neat stack. normally something like this wouldn't be considered 'busying' but for him it was. because the stack had to be perfect. all facing the same way, corners together and perfectly straight. at least until he picked them up to return them to the shelves.

that wouldn't be right now though. they'd stay neatly stacked unless the table was bumped. for a little while longer. until he was done talking to zahir. how long would that be, anyway? not that it mattered to him, really. he had nowhere else to be and nothing else to do. except finally go to the dorms and find out who his roommate was. if he had one. he was sure he did though. maybe, if it was someone of a higher class, they'd be like him in that he didn't care for class division.

"yeah, i get that. i find my in-between form most comfortable though. maybe because i'm still on too legs but my ears and tail are still there... wolf's just my preferred animal. i've actually got a few other forms i really like too."

talking about that wouldn't last all that long though. even though they were both shape shifters and they both favored taking on the form of a wolf (what are the chances, right?), there was only so much daniil could say about it all. the most he could do was tell what else he'd turned into in the past, any other forms he really liked. and there wouldn't be any good reason to do that. it would probably be best to keep those sorts of things to himself. just so no one overheard or found out somehow. 'cause then he'd have no way to hide (at least not in a form he liked).

but what else was there? he wasn't really a big talker, as friendly as he could be. they could always go back to manga... maybe there were some one had read that the other hadn't? there had to be. and this could be a good time to learn about some new ones. and tell someone about the ones he'd read that he'd liked. but which ones? the books on the table were out of the question...

"hmm... have you read 'pandora hearts'? or maybe 'kuroshitsuji'? ah, sorry, i'm just curious. i like telling people about manga i like. and finding new ones i haven't read yet."

It wasn't that he was boring, it was just that he hasn't been getting much sleep so it's been affecting him. Maybe that's why he slammed his head into a door this morning. Man his head was still hurting but it wasn't as bad. How hard did he hit it? He obviously hit it pretty hard if it's hurting still. Maybe he should head to the nurse later to get this checked. He fell asleep for a few seconds but then he jumped causing him to wake up. He really needs to get some sleep tonight, maybe tonight he will. In the meantime, he needs something to keep him awake. There was a cafe on campus, maybe they had something sugary that could help? Or he could get coffee if possible. Spacing out like he normally does, he focused back to hear Daniil talking about a few manga. This guy apparently loves manga/anime. Which is good because so does he. Kuroshitsuji was one he was familiar with but not Pandora Hearts. He's heard of it but never really looked into it. Probably because he's trying to stay limited to few manga at a time. He doesn't want to overload himself in a hundred manga that he has to keep up with. "Hm..I finished Kuroshitsuji but I never got around to Pandora Hearts. I heard that it's good but I just haven't gotten around to reading them. Maybe I should check that out. He could tell that he was going to fall asleep if he didn't get something in his system to stay up. "Hey have you been to the cafe on campus? I heard that their menu there is pretty good and I thought about heading down there for something. Want to accompany me? If Daniil didn't want to then that's fine but he has to get something in his system to stay awake until he goes to bed.
