Just a little place (Valus)

[VICTORIA]

thank god she had told roxanne that she had work to do, otherwise she never would have gotten out of the academy. the stars shined brightly above her as she waited outside the small restaurant. it was a small place but it was a nice place. one that she had been coming to for a very long time. it was called arillo's and it was considered a high class italian restaurant but the prices were very very reasonable. plus she gets a nice little discount. shifting a little bit, her heels clicked against the cement.

maybe she had over done it, but she really wanted to dress up nice. she wore a simple black halter dress. it clung to every curve of her body and stopped just about mid-thigh. the dress was also backless. she paired it with a knee high pair of high heeled boots as well as a leather jacket. the combination was edgy but sophisticated and it screamed her name. she wouldn't be anyone else if she didn't have a leather jacket. her hair was up, which was surprising that she managed to get it all up. the intricate braids and curls took her forever to get right. maybe she should have just left it down.

"fuck it's cold.."

vikki grumbled a bit as she fumbled in her pocket and pulled out a cigarette. with a flick of her lighter, it flamed to life and a puff of smoke left her lips. mmmm much better. at least she can keep her mind busy while she waited. hopefully he dressed nice like she told him too. a shirt and tie would be fine. even if it wasn't tucked in. taking another drag on her cigarette, she let the smoke curl up from her lips and disappear into the night.

[VALUS]

-Two hours before the Date-

Valus was in his room. He had punched the wall as hard as he could, leaving a fist mark. He walked over to the washroom and washed his face, he looked at himself wearing a suit. A full out suit.

He looked at this normal apparel and sighed.

"She's lucky.."

He started to mutter to himself, Bahamut was wide out in the open on his desk and went to pick it up and took his hand back. His knuckles were slightly red from punching the wall. Out of the blue he turned into the Demon form and looked at himself.

He sighed. Nothing in his head was making sense. Outside he was cool calm and collected, but in his room- he was a mess. He regained control of himself and shook his head. His eyes return to normal as his body went into a black flame to his normal self, with a suit and tie. He was ready.

He was going to rock.

"Well, might as well get this party started!"

He said with a smile on his face, with no weapons he made made his way out of his room and tried to get to the point as soon as possible. He was going to impress her as much as he could.

-Current events-

Valus walked down the street with his hands in his pockets. He wasn't used to wearing a suit so he made the best of it. People were looking at him odd while he was walking and he shrugged it off. He saw Vikki, she looked amazing in front of the Restaurant and looked at it then back at her, she had just taken a drag of a cigarette and he noticed her hair and her clothes. She had dressed up quite nice for the night.

It was a date after all.

Valus had walked over slowly. His white hair had moved with the wind coming down the street. He walked up to her and scratched his neck.

"You know, one would have thought I would have been the one waiting"

Valus said as a joke and a small laugh afterwards.

taking another drag of her cigarette, the female blew the smoke in front of her and it blacked slightly. thankfully there was no one else around when she did that. the sound of footsteps filled her ears and she turned smiling at valus. wow he sure did dress up nice. she was actually slightly worried that he wouldn't have dressed up.

"well look at you. don't you look very nice. and here I was thinking I was over dressed."

vikki teased him as she gave him a soft hug and a kiss on the check. she was feeling friendly and hopefully he wouldn't mind too much. taking one last drag on her cigarette, she summoned a small amount of darkness to swallow up the remains of the cigarette.

"I think you'll like this little place. it's called arillo's and they are very friend. not to mention they are a monster only place. they have a ward that makes humans think this is nothing more than an unused place. anyone they see go in they forget about."

the female explained as she opened the door and went inside. the restaurant looked so much bigger on the inside. the ceilings were almost magically enhanced to be bigger. the lighting was dim but it was easy enough to see by. the place wasn't completely empty but it wasn't packed. there were a few other groups of people in the place. a host came wandering over and smiled when he recognized who it was. his smile grew when he saw that she had a guy with her. a light blush crossed over her as he led them to a table and she slipped out of her jacket before sitting down.

"and sorry about being early. I had to slip out with some excuse otherwise roxanne would have kicked my ass. while she likes me going out on business, she isn't exactly fond of me going out on personal matters."

the female admitted leaning back in the booth they were ushered too. she didn't mind the booth mostly because it was in the back of the restaurant and her back was against a wall. this date would be good for her. it had been a long time since she had been out with someone who wasn't afraid of her. not to mention she actually felt a connection with this guy. maybe it was over stupid reasons but she kinda liked him. probably a little more than she should.

Valus smiled at her comment about how he looked.

"Well, you told me to dress nice, it wouldn't be like a teacher to look this handsome and not look the part for a date."

He opened his mouth to say. As the words came out he felt her hug him and give him a kiss one the cheek. He hugged her back and before he could land one back he pulled away finishing off her Cigarette.

Looking at the place from the outside it looked- Down.. Almost as if no one was around ever. He lifted his eye brow as she spoke.

A.. Monster friendly place? He shook his head. That was quite possible but he looked at his hand and clenched it as a fist and walked in after Vikki. He looked in and saw her blush and smiled slightly.

She was beautiful, but she looked adorable when she blushed. He smiled as she did and they sat down. He sat across from her. He looked around and noticed that the monsters were all not in human form, if it had ruined the disguise technique then Valus would have seemed off being the only pure human looking one.

"I hear you. Sometimes it is hard to slip her watch.. Though she cares for the students too mu-" He stopped and didn't go on. He knew her weaknesses and how to bring her out of power but Vikki probably knew that.

Valus had sighed and placed his elbows on the table and laced his fingers and looked at her for a moment. He felt a strong connection to Vikki. Probably more than he even should.

He smiled after a bit.

"Well, the air and locals here seem friendly- Can't say I have met anyone here though.."

He opened his mouth, looking around at some of the patrons in the area.

"you aren't a teacher tonight. you are valus, the handsome theater guy. who is on a date with me."

vikki smiled to him as she folded her hands on the table. a waiter came by and she ordered something to drink. she knew what she wanted to eat but she figured that he would need a bit of time to take a look at the menu.

"And roxanne is a good headmaster. she does what she has to in order to protect her students. yes she may care for them too much, but she is able to take care of herself. you haven't seen her mad."

the female laughed and took a small sip of water from her glass. waving her hand a him a bit, she leaned forward and held his gaze.

"but we aren't here to talk about school or anything. tell me a little bit more about yourself. you are a demon so just how old are you?"

the words were soft as she gave him a flirty smile. she did want to learn more about him, but she didn't want to upset him by asking the wrong thing. he seemed to have a few secrets that he wanted to keep hidden but she wouldn't pry if he didn't want too.

[VALUS]

Valus smiled at her compliments, he wasn't used to them, in fact he almost wanted to leave.

He sat smiling at her. Though, it was nice to be noticed as person, instead of a demon or just a stage technician. His heart told him to stay. And so he would.

"Roxanne just needs to be careful on whose foot she steps on. Only real thing I could say about her."

When the waiter came by he ordered wine. He needed something to drink. He used to drink alot since his time before the college and all. He missed it slightly. He heard her ask a question and his eyes opened a bit. It was an odd question but he answered.

"Well,Yeah.. I am a demon so I am older than your average person.. but frankly.. I am young when it comes down to it." He said, his voice changed to his almost fully serious voice. "Some could say that I am less than a thousand, some say that I was older than thousand. But most of my years are a large blur to me.. I only remember years with uncle for the most part."

He wasn't going to bother lying to her. Even he didn't know, everything about him to even himself was kept a mystery.

"My body seems the only of late Twenties. I like it this way. "

He looked back at her, she was going to keep asking question after question. He didn't mind unless it went too close to home. He was slightly surprised she didn't ask about the gun at all.

vikki listened to him and her eyes flashed a deep black. the glass in her hand shattered and blackened shards of glass fell to the table and floor. the waiter rushed over and quickly cleaned up the mess apologizing and muttering to vikki but she didn't take her eyes off of valus.

"are you threatening roxanne? I don't see why you should. she is trying to help the world and the yajuu. she isn't harming anyone by that she is doing. so I suggest you watch your mouth."

sure this was a date but she wasn't going to take crap about roxanne. the tone he used said he thought otherwise about her plans with the school. flexing her hand the wounds healed to nothing but her eyes remained a deep black. the light over their table flickered dark before coming back to it's normal light.

"you don't know? huh you sound like me really but you don't seem like you are truly that old."

the female muttered trying to make light conversation as she sat back in the booth. when the waiter came by, she ordered a steak but her black eyes never left valus. she wanted to question him more on the whole roxanne topic but she would end up just getting upset with the whole thing.

[VALUS]

"If you took that as a threat, it wasn't. I would just hate for her to be on someone powerful's bad side."

Hopefully he could turn that around so she didn't look so pissed. Valus went to get up to get some fresh air until he second guessed himself about it. He sat back down and looked away from Vikki and whispered as she broke the glass.

"Valus, you're an idiot.." He said hopefully to himself as he looked back at Vikki her gaze was almost death like. As she spoke about age he didn't want to answer since he already said something stupid.

He sighed and rubbed his eyes thinking;

'Maybe I SHOULD leave.. I mean I screwed up terribly..'

He mingled with the thought in his head for a few moments while she was ordering and he ordered the same.

He was going to stay.

Valus wanted to try to change the topic to something more lively. After some thought he started to talk again.

"Well, what else do you know from my profile.." He said with his eyes fixed as well on Vikki, she was pissed at him as it was. That wasn't normal, people have been pissed at him his entire life. Like it would be different if she was too.. That is just more wood for the fire.

He didn't like to feed the fire, but it was his own mistakes that drove him into the school as it was. He was a great person, but just had no time to second guess himself and question others motives from time to time, he was a stage technician.

If he had kept up with his own way.. He would be alone.

[VICTORIA]

the female watched him eyes almost predatory as she took a sip of her water and set the glass down. her eyes swirled back to their glowing electric blue. closing them for a bit, vikki let out a small sigh trying to calm herself down. she wasn't going to rip his throat out simply because he threatened roxanne. she would just keep a close eye on him.

"why do you think that about roxanne? if you don't mind my asking. do you not think she is strong enough to protect this school? would not not help her if it came down to it? she brought the teachers into the school for a reason. to help her with her dream."

so much for not talking about school and such. she was curious now as to why he said those things about roxanne. she never did anything to harm anyone and the headmaster always made sure that she had little enemies. true that people weren't happy with what she was doing but she still tried to make sure there wouldn't be tension. she could tell he wanted to leave. sighing the female simply stared at her meal when it was placed in front of her.

"I didn't mean to snap at you like that. roxanne is just important to me and my brother. I owe her my life and the lives of the umbra."

the female wanted to tell him he could go if he wanted too. he probably felt like he had messes up and she didn't mean to upset him. maybe he would understand just how she felt and why she was so sensitive. fingers running along the table cloth it blackened lightly beneath her touch.

[VALUS]

Valus heard the question and laced his fingers together on the table. His gaze was to her eyes, he feared no one at this point.

"I never said that I didn't think that she was strong enough to protect the school, hence why most of the teachers are around, they are here because they are the best in some field, fighting or other wise. It is up to her who she is willing to have at her side."

He was trying to make sure his point came across. He wasn't a threat, he would be willing to be called upon if necessary. Valus had never wanted to threaten Roxi, he enjoyed conversations with her when it came around to the point where they would meet.

He sighed as he looked out the window.

"Everyone has dreams.. Some are ruined and given up.. But hers is something each student and teacher can aspire to, she is a leader worth following."

He stopped there as he said her last bit.

"Don't be... I used to have someone like that.. I-" He didn't go on as he tried to change topic. as he looked at the food that was also placed in front of him.

"Well? you never answered my question."

He said with his smile on his face, he was getting back to trying to get this train back on track to somewhere he felt comfortable.

vikki watched him and relaxed slightly. her fingers rested on the table and it blackened slightly beneath them. the waiter placed her meal in front of her and she turned her attention to that. She didn't need to upset him anymore.

"I'm still sorry I snapped at you. she means a lot to me and I want to make sure no one can hurt her."

the words were soft as she focused on the food in front of her. she didn't want to look at him at the moment. mostly because she was trying to calm herself down. Maybe she should try to change the topic. she hadn't answered his question? huh. about his past? well she didn't really know what to ask.

"well you could always just start talking about yourself. did you have an siblings? mother? father? anything?"

she asked taking a small bite of her steak. her eyes were still focused on the table. but she didn't know why she wouldn't look at him. was it because she was still mad? or was it for another reason? maybe this date wasn't turning out as well as she thought it would.

[VALUS]

Valus heard a question about his family and that hit home. His mood changed rapidly as he started to eat.

"I.. Had no siblings.. My mother died during my birth.. And my dad.. I donno what happened to him. All I have is a relic from him."

Valus opened his mouth telling him his basic childhood in a wrap. He looked up at Vikki and realized that she wasn't looking at him. his hands shook slightly as one of hands went to move over to Vikki's cheek to see if she would look at him.

'Valus-'


He heard his voice being called and he pulled his hand away quickly to try and find out where it came from and who said it. Turned it no one did and it was in his head- a voice from the past hit him but he couldn't put his finger on it for now.

"Most of my memorable years is of my uncle and aunt who looked after me. Great family, great people.. Only people I have that are close to my family."

He spoke as he had gaps in his light eating. As much as he didn't want to go on. he did. He was interested in Vikki.

He put both hands on the table and looked at Vikki as he took a small break from eating to finish off his glass of wine. He placed it down and kept his cool as he was going. He had lost it, but it took him little time to regain it as he was drinking something. He looked away for a few then back at Vikki.

Valus put his hand under neath Vikki's chin and would Gently bring it up. Then would open his mouth to speak in a soft tone.

"Hey.. Vikki.. Right here, you aren't a student.. A stunning young lady that happen to have said yes to a Stage Tech."

He said with his smile on his face. He wanted to try to shake the doubt out of both of them- He knew that this would work out.

she could see that the words hit home. they seemed to stir up something inside him and she felt bad about have mentioning it. gazing staying on the table as she ate, vikki sighed softly. this wasn't going well at all.

"I'm sorry I keep bringing up bad topics. this isn't going well."

the words were soft and barely above a whisper. her eyes were softer and the brilliant glow seemed to fade out lightly as she watched her plate. the steak was half gone and more of it would have been but she didn't taste anything any more. his fingers brushed against her skin and he pulled her face up to look at him. a light blush seemed to cross over her.

"I'm hardly a young lady. let alone stunning. you are the one that is more than just a stage tech."

vikki gave him a sad soft smile pulling away and sitting back a bit. she ran a hand through her hair and closed her eyes for a second. this was hard. trying to find the right things to say and not upsetting the other person. vikki picked up her drink and took a small sip of it trying to collect her thoughts.

Valus smiled as she said her words. He sighed slightly as he was trying to regain his own composure as the last topic took a lot of out of him. If he was any less of who he was- He would have been in tears, but he was going to be someone who could try to turn this around. It was going better than she and he had expected but to her it seemed like it was going bad.

She was being modest.

Valus found her to be the most stunning girl in the whole school- and she was a student. That was odd for him but it is still alright and all. Being a Demon.

"Well- In college we were told we were going to die miserable and alone... Or we turn into Alcoholics but that is probably a res thing.."

Valus kept his smile. as he looked at his own plate it was almost done as it was. He looked back at Vikki and saw that she had moved back and he wanted to say something but it never came out.

He looked down and coughed slightly to clear his throat and he looked back Vikki and with his smile he said.

"Well- you would be surprised.. I think tonight is going far better than expected!"

He said with a chuckle in his voice. He was curious on her own part she plays or has played in the industry.

"Soo- Did you ever do anything for Theatre?"
