Sunshine beamed down on the earth against every little piece of grass in the field on the school grounds. It was afternoon during the lunch hour of most of the students and one student spent her time on the field due to the boredom that the school cafeteria brought her. The female student was named Adalia Gates, a B class mermaid student with blond flowing hair. She was in her human form naturally no water was around her to be in her mermaid form. Though, for her it wasn’t something new that she wasn’t in it. Addie was a brilliant girl who was in tune with her mermaid powers just doesn’t know how to actually control them at her young age. She had her lunch sprawled out on the grass enjoying the lovely weather between her classes. The weather probably would be the keeping the young female outside for the rest of the day. Addie loved to be outside though it was in her nature.
It was the curiosity to wonder where her best friend Destan was for lunch, usually the two spent most of every waking moment together well for the most part at least. Adalia had known her best friend Destan for a few years the two were like twins at points that her own siblings were not. Sure Addie had two twin siblings, Raizen and Nina who both were a few moments older than her. Of course she had found friends with others who weren’t her actual blood. Just Dusty, as she always called Destan, knew a lot about her more than what most knew or was led to know. She bit her lip hoping he knew where she was when it came to it only because she didn’t tell him where she would be after their class in the morning hours. She sighed a little knowing that he would find her eventually, they were connected pretty well when it came down to it.
She bit her lip a little standing up to stretch a little as Addie had been sitting for a little. Adalia wore an unusual outfit for her time being so short at the school. You see her fashion was a bit off learning from various regions of the world and well-tended to be a bit mismatched. Today she wore a shirt that cover all but her mid drift of her body leaving her stomach open and a skirt that well was modest it though was in a form of a tutu almost, but has the actual skirt part for half of it. She looked around feeling a bit uneasy not too sure where her beloved friend was. Adalia sat down near her food again and picked up a bowl of rice and started eating.
((sorry its short))

The sun was not harsh and the breeze was gentle. All the birds chirped and sang as if it were the first day of spring. Destan Glaucus, a class B literal fish out of water, walked through the halls carrying his lunch in one hand and two drinks in the other. His blue hair was in its usual ponytail. Today he found himself, once again, hunting for his best friend for a couple of years, Adalia Gates.
He knew exactly where his runaway companion had gone to. On a day like this, she would definitely be outside. So Destan was heading straight for the fields, a popular place to be during the lunch break on nice days, at least for the species that could take the sun for any length of time.
Once he reached the fields, he ran his namesake dusty brown eyes over the various students hanging outside. His eyes fell on a blonde sprawled out in the grass with her back to him. He felt the smile spread on his face when he realized it was her.
He was always surprised how vastly different in appearance her two forms were. His own forms were so alike one could probably guess who he was if he was spotted with a fin. Adalia went from long green colored hair to golden hair, somewhat shorter in length.
He continued towards her until she stood up. This caused him to pause. It always amazed him how much a few years could change a person. She was still a troublemaker, with a knack for getting into a bunch of different scenarios, but she was a bit more grown up. Destan recalled when his parents first mentioned that he should at least consider taking her as his mate.
As a Glaucus, it was expected that he have a bride and take up his birthright but he hadn’t found his bride yet. His parents asked why he didn’t choose Adalia. They got along and even their quarrels ended in time. Destan flat out, shot down that idea as an option. Adalia was his dearest friend, he wasn’t gonna use her just so he could take his place as head of the family. His parents argued that it was better to marry a friend then someone you love. Love is a rock road and those feelings can fade but friendship can outlast that. It’s far better to be tied to a friend then someone who you might not feel the same way about in a few years.
Still, Destan refused. Instead, he came to the Academy with her. Some would say that he only came here because of her and they would only be partially correct. He did come here to keep her out of trouble but he had his own reasons for coming here.
As Adalia finished her stretch and sat down to start eating, Destan continued to advance towards her. When he drew behind her, he took one of the cold drinks in his hand and tapped it lightly against her blonde hair, almost glowing in the sunlight.
“Hello, kitty.” He gave her a boyish grin before handing her the drink and sitting down beside her. He laid his lunch down and opened it before saying, “I knew I would find you sunbathing out here. I swear, I’m gonna have to get you a bell just so I can keep track of you.” He kept his face neutral as he said this, his brown eyes playfully eying her.
He took a bite out of an omelet in his lunch. That was one thing he loved about humans, their culinary habits. They were weird but a life living on fish and seaweed definitely opened up one to try new and exotic things. “Oh, they ran out of your favorite drink so I got you the next best thing.” Destan opened his own beverage, an orange soda, and took a drink of it before allowing himself to put out his legs and lay back in the grass to bath in the sun.
These times were his favorite. Hanging out with his best friend. Not a care in the world, for now at least.

The nice thing about the school was they had a field where you could eat your lunch and not have any issues with sun light. Adalia enjoyed the hours she was able to be outside soaking up some sun rays. She knew her best friend would be out sooner or later as a part of the amazing disappearing act the young female had managed to vanish in plain sight. She loved being random at moments it made her life fun when her best friend or family couldn’t find her in the usual spots. Though, with her the outdoors was always nice it reminded her of home well both homes in the waters she swam. She sighed a little still looking around for Dustan but she knew that he would probably be a few minutes before he would show up. She sighed a little as Addie was kind of just an orphan with her brother and sister in this world. That’s why she had Dusty as he best friend; she found his family to be entertaining when she had actually met them.
Though, Addie knew from his family that they were a clan of mere people who were pretty well off for it. It was really them who kind of got Adalia back into her interest in school well that and she knew she could leave her best friend at a school by himself. She had to be there to cause some trouble in the everyday boring life. Of course, she kind of knew that his family wanted them to get together and be that couple; though, at the same time she couldn’t figure out what she wanted to do with her life. She was still young and the things she wanted to do well was travel the oceans and seas when she got out of school. But that was just a dream she had going Raizen, her twin, probably wouldn’t allow her to go out on her own again. After she had stretched and was lost in her thoughts for a few moments she had seen Dustan walking over carrying drinks for the two of them and his own lunch. She smiled as he walked over to her. “Hi Dusty!” She said sweetly to him and gave him a little playful grin across her pale skin. “A bell? But then I couldn’t be all sneaky around the campus and make you find me.” She said happily to him. She always loved playing the vanishing card.
Addie took the bottle from him examined a little, it wasn’t the typical drink but it was next to her favorite drink out there. She opened it quickly and took a drink out of it loving the taste of the cold fluid in her mouth. “Thank you and it’s my second favorite drink defiantly the next best thing.” She said with a smile on her face. She had set her drink down next to her and picked up her food and started to proceed to eat again. Her blue eyes looked around almost looking to cause some sort of trouble. It was funny her form that she took for a human form was opposite of each other. Her human form was well the one that complemented her side to cause trouble. Her mermaid side showed her dying loyalty for her friends and family. “So what’s up Dusty? How are classes?” She asked him.
