APPEARANCE:

In human form Raizen keeps a darker look that periodically changes in subtle ways. He has shaggy black hair that stops just under the ears and vibrant blue green eyes that appear completely green when the sun catches them. Apart from a small ring he has pierced in his upper right ear, his face is left completely bare against his ivory skin. His facial structure varies only slightly from his sisters, the only true difference being the subtle differences unique to their genders. Standing tall at exactly six feet, Raizen’s clothing choices hardly vary from his usual black, gray, or blue jeans, plain colored shirts and tank tops, and a jacket that mirrors his defiant (and sometimes dark) nature. He wears no jewelry other than his earring and a silver chain long enough to hide its pendant beneath his shirts. In physical appearance alone he has the typical build of a swimmer with his long torso and nicely defined muscles. In a word he could be described as slender.

In his true form Raizen hardly looks any different than his younger twin sister Adalia. His hair, instead of short and black, is waist length and pure blond. His physical appearance hardly changes and still holds the build of a swimmer; lithe and slender. His tail is a seaweed green with subtle hints of blue when caught by the light. His eyes never change color as they are the one thing about his body that he likes the most. In a word they are alluring and one of his best features for captivating victims.

STRENGTHS: His biggest strength is the manipulation of water and while he’s not going to be causing a tsunami anytime soon (not without at least a few more years training), he’s good enough at it to get a victim in some serious trouble. Needless to say because of his ease with the water his second strength is swimming. In fact the only time he tends to truly relax or even de-stress is when he’s in the water. His third strength is seduction and something that he and his twin sister are quite good at. Except in Raizen’s case his seduction is fueled by boredom and a deep-seated fascination with how much he can influence people.

WEAKNESSES: Being that he is a merman, Raizen’s natural weakness are fire and water seclusion. He doesn’t fear fire so much as he’s cautious of it thanks to a fascination he has with it. However you find him playing with it for fear of the consequences it would have on him. Water seclusion, on the other hand, is something that he fears the most because of an incident when he was a small child that nearly ended fatally. As a result he never goes more than a week without being in the water, even if it’s just for a few minutes. His third weakness, although it could be considered up for debate as an actual weakness, is lack of physical contact. Being so used to seducing others to see how far he can manipulate them, Raizen finds it hard to resist anyone who might promise him a good time. Whether “good” is how they would describe it or not. There is a second part to this type of weakness that can be easily described as having a hard time turning challenges down. The biggest advice he could give anyone to avoid what kind of reactions this weakness could cause would be to not tease him under any circumstances unless you’re prepared to handle his appetite.. for challenges.

SECRETS:
As far as secrets go, Raizen really only has one big secret that he keeps hidden- even from his twins and although he feels no real need to keep it from them, he feels as if it would be for the best. When he was about twelve years old he ventured away from the watery home alone in a much needed pursuit of peace from his siblings. While wadding water leisurely he began to hum, unaware that the sound waves of his kind could reach wider distances than that of humans. During his offbeat humming a human girl around his age became enthralled over the melody and followed the sound out to the water. While Raizen was aware that he was attracting her attention, he was not prepared for the lack of knowledge that she had on swimming. Being so far out from where she had entered the water and began to struggle, she had drowned by the time he had reached her. The fact that he had inadvertently caused her death is not what he keeps secret although he doubts any of his family knows about it. His secret is the fact that once he did reach her it was the fascination and blood lust he felt over seeing her lifeless, and the knowledge that he could cause it to near-any victim he chose.

OVERALL:
In a nutshell Raizen is a colorful character in everything that he takes pleasure in. From his love of mythology to his addiction with seduction it is easy to say that he’s well diverse. His open and casual nature makes him an easy friend, yet his short temper and bloodlust could also make him the perfect enemy. He has very little passion in life but what he does have it for is the very definition of the word passionate. This passion extends to his little sister Adalia and even though they are but mere minutes apart in birth, he feels and plays the part of an older and very protective big brother. On an intellectual scale he could be called average or just above with his love of mythology that extends even to Sumerian ages. His guilty pleasure- the tales and myths of Atlantis. Besides mythology, he has a firm knowledge of psychology that drives his seductive talents by using it as an observant trait to tell him everything he needs to use towards his approach. In his love life he hardly has limits, so long as you tempt him or catch his eye you’re a possible target to be discovered. As far as an actual relationship goes, he’s not very picky and not exactly faithful- so lay the law down quickly or expect him to take it as ‘anything goes’. However, actually catching his heart is harder than catching his lust.

All in all, Raizen is a good kid with many attributes just waiting to be discovered by anyone curious. His initial dark appearance might be offsetting, but don’t let it fool you into dismissing the mischievous look in his eyes and the near-permanent smirk on his lips.[/size][/ul]

HISTORY:[/size][/ul]
Raizen’s life can be described as both tragic and blessed. Born as the only son and eldest of a set of triplets, he lost his birth parents at the tender age of two. While most would consider this tragic and indeed it is a sad memory in his life, Raizen learned quickly that blood does not always mean family. Raizen and his siblings were taken in by another merfolk family by the names of Gates until the age of six, when they were abandoned once again. They were not left alone for long before the cousins to the Gates took on the responsibility of raising the triplets.

As a triplet, Raizen developed quickly into his role of older brother and helped the Gates family to look after his younger siblings. A choice in life that helped him to mature past his birth age and assume a more adult role. While he caused his fair share of trouble with and without his siblings, their presence usually brought out the protector and mediator in him.

As an individual, Raizen was much different. As a child he barely strayed from his siblings in helping to raise them, but as a teenager he began to venture farther away from them- experiencing his own life as an individual teenager, rather than a triplet. His endeavors consisted of pranks and the normal pushing of boundaries as all teenagers in their respective races do. While there were occasional complaints about Raizen’s trouble-making from other merfolk, the Gates’ family didn’t have any more trouble with him than they did the other siblings. Unique to himself at the age of ten, Raizen began to develop a very natural habit of controlling his water element. But besides this his life was considerably normal for his race.

At the age of twelve Raizen experienced his first encounter with the darker trait of his merman heritage. While wadding the water’s surface away from his home seeking peace, Raizen inadvertently lured a young girl with little swimming ability out to sea with his humming. While aware of what he was doing once her motions caught his eye, he was unprepared for her poor swimming ability. By time he reached the point of where she had begun to struggle, he found her already drowned and beyond saving. Seeing her lifeless body sinking to the ocean floor awakened his bloodlust with the knowledge that he could lure his targets out to sea. He never spoke of his encounter with his siblings and while he does not keep secrets from them he feels it would be best to keep it secret.

The rest of his teenage years were hardly uneventful for his race as he continued to play with his water ability and power of seduction- testing the limits and techniques he could use to see how far he could manipulate his victims. At the end of his fifteenth year of life he was sent to Akashibai Academy by the Gates family so he could further continue developing his water ability along with his siblings Nina and later Adalia. While his water ability was the main arguing point for letting him go to the school a more deeper point was the promise of new targets to test his other abilities on.

With the sun’s blazing rays teamed with a gentle breeze, Raizen could not have asked for a better day to be lounging about outside near the school’s lake. With his bare feet lightly batting at the surface of the water, he took the moment to lean back on his hands and inhale the scent of spring with closed eyes. With the sun being the menacing fiery ball it was, usually he would be annoyed to have it beating down against his bare chest. Yet with his feet taking in a steady soak of blissful water, he was actually beginning to enjoy it-especially with his wet jeans drying in the heat that he had rolled up to the knee. He’d initially been strolling the school grounds trying to waste time before his youngest twin was supposed to arrive. The water had looked so inviting with its refreshing cold waters and promise of peace that he’d lost track of time wading its waters.

His black tank top that he’d discarded before his swim lay balled up under his right hand, allowing the sun to tan the shape of his necklace against his ivory skin. Although the threat of sunburn remained as a constant nagging voice in the back of his head, he ignored it. For now he needed the calming state of his element as the arrival of his sister dragged on and on. Even if he was the eldest of triplets, Adalia and him had been closest. Their birth was only several minutes apart but he’d always felt like an older brother to her, protecting her from any threat that he could. Their closeness had several theories behind it and often Raizen contemplated if perhaps their closeness was because they’d been possibly closest in the womb. Or perhaps it was derived from the fact that she seemed to understand him the most. No matter what kind of indecencies he’d committed in his life, she’d always been right behind him and ever supportive.

Opening his eyes at the path his thoughts had travelled, Raizen looked out across the sparkling lake and sighed. The slate-like surface was only marred by the ripple effect his motions were making. To others it might seem menacing with its rumors of secrets. To him it was peaceful and in a way he felt untouchable by its secrets because of what he was. In his eyes, he was a part of those secrets. Speaking of secrets, he thought to himself as his blue green eyes travelled from the surface to his left ankle, I wonder what Addie will think of this. He smiled with the thought and took in the small, simplistic design of the water symbol he’d had tattooed on his ankle. Those who knew his species would probably think it was for his race when in actuality it served as a reminder of a very special time in his life. Then again as he thought about it, with all of his sister’s ear piercings, he couldn’t imagine why she would find anything wrong with his simple brand. Feeling light and happy that he would be closer to his twin once again, he checked the positioning of the sun and gathered that it was close to two pm- the time in which she should be arriving. Getting up to stretch, he lazily replaced his shirt to his body and started to make his way to the schools entrance so he could greet her in person.[/size][/ul]
