'what the hell..?' turning his head to the right, he looked at his brother. it had been about a month since they'd reunited and he'd gotten permission to take michio above ground. maybe having him there would help with solving this... whatever it was. and it did get the other male out of the tunnels. the fresh air would do him some good after being trapped down there with all the blood. remembering the picture, he looked at it again. and all of the memories flooded his mind. he suddenly recalled what he'd been wanting to check out. but again, as soon as he looked away, he was lost on what to do. the previous sequence played through again and when he found himself recalling everything he decided not to look away from the photograph just yet. he needed to figure out a way to remember what needed to be done. but what? every time he looked away he forgot everything about this... creature. "i'm hoping we can figure out what this thing is... but it seems you can't remember anything about it unless you're looking at it..." he was very aware that what he said sounded immensely stupid. even he thought so and he knew it was true. but what to do about that... if one forgot everything when they weren't looking, how could one do anything about it? he could just look at the picture the whole time, he needed to see where he was going. and if this happened with the picture, would it be the same when faced with the creature in person? if that was the case, how would he even know if he'd met the thing? he needed a way to keep track of that. it seemed that all thoughts about the creature vanished when not looking at it but then returned when facing it again. so that would mean he'd remember all of this the next time he looked at the picture. and if he saw the thing for real..? 'the best way to mark a meeting with this thing that i can think of is to mark it on something with a marker...' he only had the picture with him, no paper to write on. he did have a couple of sharpies with him, he almost always carried those... he could use one to mark the encounters on his hand or arm. pulling the markers from his pocket, he held the blue one towards his brother. he didn't take his eyes off of the photo. "i need to to keep this with you. and i'm gonna tell you why in just a minute. but first. i want you to look at this picture and tell me what you think."
