APPEARANCE: Standing at five feet seven inches, Daire could be considered average height by some, or slightly below it by others. His skin is fair and unblemished, and he has a lean, yet athletic build. Daire's eyes are a dark shade of brown, appearing a warm shade of amber in brighter lighting, heavily lidded and very much bedroom eyes. His hair is a medium brown, with a slight coppery tone to it, usually slicked back out of his face with a few stray pieces falling to his forehead. Daire is never seen in casual clothes, his attire very much formal and stylish. He gives off the air of being confident and sophisticated; and as a cancanagh is naturally seen as seductive and charming.

SECRETS:
[/li][li] He doesn't actually like teaching, he only became a teacher because he's after Roxanne.
[/li][li] As far as teachers go, he's a rather corrupt one. While he's by no means easily bribed, he doesn't care much for moral codes, and has no objection of taking advantage of students or making under the table deals.
[/li][li] Daire is rumoured to be involved in some shady "business ventures" in Denver--there's some truth to these rumours.

OVERALL: Although Daire is a man flighty in nature and dubious in morals, there's no doubt he's charming. As a Gancanagh he is literally irresistible and addicting to humans, and while he doesn't have quite the same effect on non-humans, he is still pretty enticing. He's not one to make a scene or seek attention, but people can't help but be drawn to him nonetheless. He's refined and knowledgeable, a well-mannered literati who gives off a mysterious air. As a teacher, he isn't a very dedicated or passionate one--he doesn't like teaching, but he doesn't like ignorance or stupidity either, and so he does try to educate his students, half-hearted as it may be. He doesn't have any patience for stupid questions and is for the most part unwilling to do any more work than he needs to. Daire is easily bored, and hates the repetition and monotony of the school, and he while he is uninterested in his students and his work for the most part, there is the rare happening or student who catches his interest. He tends to play a hand in stirring up trouble, partly because he's bored and partly to get Roxi's attention, in a I'll-stop-if-you-have-dinner-with-me kind of way, but he would never intentionally set anything too terrible into motion, knowing that would only lessen his chances with her. Daire tends to be a bit lazy and irresponsible with things he doesn't particularly care for, though when he sets his mind on something he is very patient and determined when it comes to achieving it. He tends to come of as flirtatious, but it's more of a Gancanagh thing--he isn't necessarily interested in every person he flirts with it, it's just a natural effect he has on people.[/li][/ul]

HISTORY:
Daire doesn't know much about his origins--in fact, to this day he has never learned anything about his lineage or met another Gancanagh despite four hundred years of extensive research and travel. He's fairly certain he's the last or one of the last of his kind, though he doesn't feel particularly lonely or remorseful about the fact.
His earliest memories begin at a small orphanage in Ireland in the late 16th century. Nobody knows how he arrived, whether he was brought in or found or dropped off--he seemed to simply appear, a strangely enchanting little boy. His upbringing was poor and humble, he was treated as a human, yet he there was always something evidently different about him. Despite growing up in poverty, Daire never appeared malnourished or unhealthy or sick. However, nobody really questioned it because he was such an adorable, captivating child.
As he aged, Daire's charm only grew, and he went from a delightful young child to an enticing teenage boy. Girls began to like him--understandably since he was so good looking, but they didn't simply develop crushes on him. It was more than puppy love, they fell enraptured with Daire, never wanting to leave his side, willing to abandon everything to remain by his side. They literally became addicted to him, and while it was certainly flattering and exciting for a short while, Daire quickly grew bored with the girls and left, frequently travelling--he'd never really found himself able to form any close emotional attachments to anyone or anything. Unfortunately for them, once they'd fallen for Daire, girls didn't seem to able to get over him. They pined away for him and grew depressed, dying of broken hearts.
He continued on like this for a good deal of time--and while Daire loved women and loved seducing, them he continued to grow easily bored of them. He also began to notice his aging slowing as he approached his twenties, all but stopping as he hit his mid twenties. Daire had always suspected he wasn't quite normal, so this wasn't really any sort of great revelation, he simply accepted it and learned to use his irresistible charm to his advantage.
Soon enough, his own country grew dull--he felt he'd seen every kind of girl there was to see in Ireland, and he moved to different countries. He'd always had a love for languages, and he picked up the languages of the many countries he traveled through very quickly. He was, however, illiterate for quite a while. He first learned to read sometime during the renaissance--he can't recall the exact year, but he remembers the first language he learned to read in being Italian. He immediately grew to love literature, and learning to read became just as important as learning to speak the language in the countries he visited. He's read more books than he can count, in more languages than he can count.
With the passing of eras, Daire continued seducing women of different nationalities, social classes, ages, in all sorts of places. But even this grew boring eventually. Humans had grown boring to him. Throughout is lifetime, he'd come to know of other supernatural creatures--none like him, but many were immortal (he assumed he was immortal himself, at least), and very much immune to his charm. This was a new challenge, seducing women through something more than the natural, effortless attraction humans felt for him. He was successful with quite a few of these women, and as of lately, his sights have been set on Roxanne. While she has rejected his advances, Daire is by no means discouraged, finding himself a job at the school, certain she'll give in to him eventually.[/ul]
WITH FACES PRESSED AGAINST THE
wall lets show the world what we are about

[li] As a Gancanagh, things tend to be very quiet when he's around, slightly muted, if you will. This is especially evident in nature, where animals will cease to make any noise when he's around.[/li][li] He also doesn't have a shadow.

RP SAMPLE:
It had been quite some time since Carmina had last found herself in Astavi--decades, perhaps. Although this new world was rapidly advancing, the technology and the cities it fueled constantly changing and upgrading, the large city's streets still bustled with vendors and buyers, a sight that was almost nostalgic, mingling with familiar scents and sounds unique to the city.
It didn't seem as different as she'd expected, but after all the time the nymph had recently spent wandering between tiny, isolated villages that dotted the northern wastelands, Mina had grown unaccustomed to the noise and the crowds. She couldn't help but seem disoriented by this sudden change to an urban setting. Of course, her mask of innocence had become a sort of second nature to her--she wasn't quite as lost as she appeared to be. And she did appear to be very much bewildered, her uncovered violet eye wide and her lips slightly parted in a naive gape. She wove through the crowds looking quite out of place; awed and girlish, among the citizens who went about their business briskly and with none of the marvel in Mina's expression.
Blinking, she suddenly stopped and turned in the middle of the street, only just managing to step out of the way of an oncoming pedestrian. Her hands folded demurely in front of her, she leaned forward curiously to examine the cart that had caught her attention, only to lean back again, her nose wrinkling slightly. Meat, and it didn't smell fresh. She scanned the laid out wares, bright violet eye resting on a particular organ.
Hearts. They were small and shriveled, most likely belonging to animals. Yet Mina's lips twitched into a small frown at the small pang of longing that the sight aroused in her. Of course, she had little interest in these things before her, small and dead and rotting. But what she wanted was a real heart, hot and fresh and still pulsing in her grip--a heart that beated for her, one that completely and utterly belonged to her. The only problem was she wasn't quite sure whose heart this was.
The nymph was jostled out of her thoughts by the vendor, who gruffly told her to move along if she wasn't planning to buy anything. Mina blinked at him stupidly for a moment, before remembering herself and muttering a few words of compliance, giving the cart a final backwards glance as she continued past it.
She turned her attention back to the street in front of her just in time to narrowly avoid walking right into someone. She stumbled backwards with a gasp, both hands raised in an apologetic, surrender sort of manner. Her eye widened, meeting those of the man Mina had almost run into for a brief moment before drifting to the ground, where it found an apple core to focus on. "I"m sorry," she breathed, chewing on her lip. Mina had avoided an actual collision, but in large cities with strong gang presences, the tension could be thick enough that even almost bumping into someone could set them off. Mina tensed, still slowly backing away and ready to accelerate into a run in case that was what happened. Unsure of what this being was and of its capabilities, she hoped they weren't too impressive, and that with luck, she could escape into the crowd if needed.
