NICKNAMES: Cora, Bee
AGE: fifteen and six months
GENDER: female!
RACE: Shape Shifter
CLASS: C Class
PLAY BY: Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket[/ul]
I SWEAR TOGETHER WE'VE BEEN
here before but we never looked away
here before but we never looked away
HAIR: Brown
SKIN: Light peach, somewhat of a milky peach in fact.
BODY: Thin, somewhat lean.
UNUSUAL: She has a belly button piercing she got when she was thirteen but that's all.
OTHER FORM: Despite being a shape shifter, Cora prefers the simple form of a bird. She chose this form because it's simple and deceptive -it's about as big as a normal sized adult's palm with smooth red and black feathers with white feathers underneath. The eyes are small, black, and beady. It is deceptively cute and is definitely the form Cora prefers.
APPEARANCE:
Coraline has dark brown hiar and grey-blue eyes. Her hair reaches just above the start of her elbows and is naturally straight, much to her chagrin. Her bangs only just brush the tops of her eyes and don't fall evenly as they run across her forehead. Cora has a soft face, the point of her chin very delicate. She has a thin build, not too big but not too thin either. She has little muscle on her which comes from the fact that she walks a lot.
This teen has a bright smile to contradict her soft features. It gives her an innocent look when she needs it. When she isn't smiling, she blends in with a crowd, simply because of how plain she looks. With her brown hair, grey-blue eyes, soft features, and lack of style, Cora wouldn't be hard to miss in a classroom or the cafeteria. She is most comfortable in a school girl's outfit -it fits her decently and doesn't make her uncomfortable. When not in classes, she wears a simple skirt and shirt outfit, so nothing too revealing or particularly outstanding.

TWO SEATS INSIDE AN EMPTY ROOM
with one more night what’s left to lose
with one more night what’s left to lose
-Human Music
-Studying Humans
-Making Friends
-Shifting (just as a form of relaxing)
-Walking (she loves to walk)
-Reading (non fiction books are her favorite)
-Cats
-Birds
DISLIKES:
-Her Mother
-Close Minded Yajuu (the ones in the war; the ones who won't try to see good in humans)
-Fiction Books
-School Work
-Running
-Writing
-Dogs
-Mice
STRENGTHS:
-Shape shifting (naturally; it's easier for her to shift into the tiny bird form that she is, though)
-Stamina (from all of her walks, she's built up a bit of stamina. It's not amazing but it is significant.)
-Reading (she's an excellent reader; she can retain information easily and quickly and is very good at skimming.)
WEAKNESSES:
-Running (she wears out quickly and easily.)
-Writing (she thinks it's tedious and she can write maybe a paragraph before she either gets distracted or her hand cramps.)
-Being Mean (Cora is a naturally nice person except when her mother is in question so she has a problem being mean to people, even in self defense.)
SECRETS: If she ever got the chance, she would kill her mother. That's really her only secret.
OVERALL: Coraline is a nice girl. She has a bit of an odd fascination with humans but that's only because she was suppressed from pursuing her interests in them at a young age. She loves walking; it calms her down when she gets frustrated or angry (although that is rare). She also goes on walks to kill time or to help her think. It's a relaxing technique in general for her. She has a hard time being mean because she didn't have a lot of friends growing up. This bubbly brunette isn't very talkative but she is nice and will reply if someone talks to her. Just don't expect her to defend herself. The only exception to this is if someone ever compared her to her mother -Coraline would be likely to go off and get very mad and defensive. Overall, she's a nice young shape shifter with a friendly, open personality but with buttons that can be pushed to make her mad.[/ul]
WE LAY WITH NOT A WORD TO SAY
alone we’ll wait ‘til something’s wrong
alone we’ll wait ‘til something’s wrong
FATHER: Shiro Bracket, 40, deceased
SIBLINGS: none
OTHER PEOPLE: no
HISTORY:
Cora lived a rather sheltered like before she started attending Akashibai Academy. Her parents, Nila and Shiro Bracket, wanted to keep COraline away from the humans. They kept her as closed off from the human world as they could, rarely letting her outside. There were no books, nor a television or computer, in Cora's house growing up so she had to make due with entertaining herself. She did this relatively easily and played 'Human' with herself. She would shift into the animals she saw out the window and run around in her room like that.
It wasn't until their house was attacked that Coraline became aware of the war between the Yajuu and the humans. Suddenly her childhood games didn't seem so fun anymore. It was that moment that Cora wiggled her way from under her parents' thumbs and decided to figure out what was going on in the war. She learned all she could about humans and is still studying them through their history, music, books, and anything else she can get her hands on.
Because of her studies, and how against them her parents were, Coraline grew distant from her folks. They spoke but it was more small talk than actual familial communication. That became even worse when Shiro died defending their house. Both Nila and Cora had to shift in order to make it out alive. It was then that Nila decided that Cora should attend Akashibai Academy for her own safety. A few months after Cora was enrolled and safely attending the school, Nila fled the country so she wouldn't be killed.
Since then, Coraline has held her mother in bitter resentment for abandoning her like that but tries not to let it get in the way of her every day life. She tries to maintain a happy persona and not let what happened to her family define her.[/ul]
WITH FACES PRESSED AGAINST THE
wall lets show the world what we are about
wall lets show the world what we are about
RP SAMPLE:
[/ul]Books were a safehaven to Coraline. Books and walking. One was a stable world of facts and things that had already happened (she favoured nonfiction books, after all) while the other was merely an empty bubble of relaxation. Nothing could truly bother her when she was in either space. That was why Cora was quite often seen with a bright smile on her face although sometimes it could be seen as a stupid smile.
Today was slightly different, however. Coraline was in the library and she had one of her favourite books (one of few she'd managed to get from a human book store before she was chased out) open on her lap. Normally, this would be something exciting for Cora even though she'd read the book a thousand and two times, or so it seemed. The only difference between today and any other day was the letter gripped tightly in Cora's shaking hands.
It was a definite struggle for her not to rip this paper to shreds. The only thing keeping Coraline from doing so was the smell of books and the occasional sound of a page or two being turned. The letter was from her mother. Cora had been getting letters from Mrs. Bracket recently. They were all pleas for forgivness for leaving her and, with every one Cora recieved, she got angrier at the woman who gave birth to her. With an aggrivated sigh, Coraline set the letter in her book and snapped it closed. She stood from her chair and tucked the book under her arm, ducking her head so her hair fell over her shoulder, hiding her face which was slightly pink with anger.
When she was out of the library, Cora flipped her head up, her hair whipping over her shoulder as she hissed in annoyance. "That woman thinks she can do whatever it is she wants," Coraline grumbled. "How dare she. I'm nearly sixteen, she thinks she can treat me like I'm six and going to forgive her. Ugh." Coraline continued to grumble as she stomped down the hallway, hoping to get outside quickly to cool her jets. The only problem with this was that she wasn't watching where she was going at all. In hindsight, she should have expected to collide with someone and end up on the floor, like she did, but she hadn't been thinking clearly. And that landed her on her butt in the hall, her book on the floor at her side. Of course.
